Texas A&M Industrial Training and Assessment Center

Texas A&M University College of Engineering

A Message from the Director

As the director of The Texas A&M Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC), I am proud to share with you the remarkable impact we continue to make in the realm of energy engineering and industrial sustainability.

One of the primary objectives of our center is to shape the future of energy engineering by providing practical training in energy assessment tools and techniques to our dedicated students. This invaluable experience equips them with a competitive advantage in the job market, and we take pride in witnessing our graduates embark on fulfilling careers in energy-related fields year after year. Collaborating with over 330 dedicated graduate students, our ITAC center is fueled by a dynamic synergy of talent, innovation, and academic excellence

But our mission extends beyond education. The Texas A&M ITAC plays a pivotal role in helping industrial manufacturing sites maintain their competitiveness in today’s dynamic market landscape. As one of the 37 centers funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, we offer free assessments to various manufacturing plants and wastewater treatment plants, serving as a critical resource for enhancing their efficiency and sustainability. Over the course of more than four decades, the ITAC Program has conducted over 20,000 assessments for small- and medium-sized manufacturers, representing a significant portion of the nation’s manufacturing base.

Perhaps most impressively, the ITACs, including ours, consistently identify more than $130,000 in potential annual savings opportunities for every manufacturer assessed. This not only underscores the substantial benefits of our program but also demonstrates our unwavering commitment to driving excellence within the industrial sector.

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy-supported ITAC network thrives, with centers at 37 universities spanning across 30 states and Puerto Rico. This extensive reach reflects the nationwide significance of our work and our dedication to fostering energy efficiency and sustainability on a broad scale.

In conclusion, The Texas A&M Industrial Training and Assessment Center remains steadfast in its mission to train future energy engineering experts, empower industries to thrive, and contribute to the broader goals of energy conservation and sustainability. We are here to serve as a valuable resource for your organization and stand ready to collaborate to achieve your energy efficiency and sustainability objectives.
