Awards and Recognition


2002, 2017 Center of Excellence Award by the Department of Energy

Every year since 2002, the Department of Energy has recognized one assessment center from 35 schools across the nation that participate in the ITAC program for their contributions to their respective communities. Texas A&M was selected for the inaugural award in 2002 and also most recently in 2017.

2020 7th Annual Award for Excellence in Applied Engineering Energy

Awarded by the US Department of Energy- Advanced Manufacturing Office. Awarded to Rafael Dugarte and Dr. Bryan Rasmussen for their proposal, “Peak Electrical Demand Reduction in Fluid Distribution Systems through Load-shifting using Model Predictive Control.”

2020 AEE Foundation Scholarship

Three of the students in our program (Taeksoo Kim, Kushan Abeyawardhane, and Saurabh Nagesh Shekhadar) were awarded the prestigious Association of Energy Engineers Foundation Scholarship from the Lone Star Chapter. The foundation awarded 28 scholarships to students across the country to encourage qualified practitioners in energy engineering and management.
